Storage is becoming less and less of an issue, in general. Most people are happy with 128GB from an SSD for normal usage with photos and home movies, but gamers need something else. In my desktop I run two 256GB SSDs in RAID-0 with 2TB of storage, and in my notebook I have a 512 GB SSD – both of which are a bit expensive for most people. In my 11.6″ netbook, I run a 64GB SSD which is way too small.
So if you need something with storage and on-the-go, in the 11.6″ form factor, EUROCOM have you covered by adding in a 1.5 TB hard drive to their Monster model. This is the 1.5 TB HGST Travelstar 5k1500 SATA 6 Gb/s HDD, the largest 2.5″, 9.5 mm thin mobile storage drive available today.
Pushing a 3940XM into a 11.6″ chassis is insane. I can only wonder what the temperature is like. For gaming, that 650M should be plenty for the 1366×768 resolution at medium settings for most games.
Head on over to EUROCOM to spec up a machine. I did, chose the i7-3612QM CPU (quad core, low power) with 8 GB DDR3 and the 1.5 TB machine – it came to £806.
