For users who see the home console as a media consumption device rather than a games machine, using a gaming pad can be a little unwieldy. Microsoft have just announced the Xbox One Media Remote for the Xbox One, after it was leaked online by a Canadian retailer.
If you have Kinect plugged in, the XOMR (or whatever acronym will be used) will also control volume to the TV and power. The design is a soft silicone finish, and when picked up the remote will activate backlit buttons so that users can see the buttons in the dark – a little frustrating if you can’t find the damn thing in the dark in the first place.
Prices are expected to start at $25 in North America when it ships in March, no idea for Europe as of yet.
